The Power of One

I believe in the Power of ONE. One person can make a difference.

A year ago, I didn’t know a thing about Juvenile Diabetes. Then my son Sam was diagnosed. Now I know the importance of finding a cure for this lifelong dangerous disease.

Romance author Brenda Novak started an On-line Auction to help raise money for research for Juvenile Diabetes. Now, in it’s third year, she’s helped raise more than $97,000. That’s right, $97,000 that goes straight to research!

The Power of One.

I also believe that romance readers and writers are one of the strongest, most generous communities out there. If you believe in the power of one, and you like all things book related (and some that aren’t), read on.

Do you like a bargain?

Do you get excited about one-of-a-kind items?

Are you a booklover, a philanthropist, an E-BAY junkie?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above (and even if you didn’t), then Brenda Novak’s On-line Auction to Benefit Diabetes Research is for you!

Brenda’s son, like so many children, has Juvenile Diabetes. Over the last two years, since the auction began, Brenda’s helped raise over $97,000 that goes directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (Juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. At Brenda’s site you can bid on over 600 items, many of which can’t be found anywhere else. Artwork, web site design services, promotional services, reads by some of the most influential editors and agents in the book business (for aspiring authors), autographed books by NYTimes Bestselling authors, vacations, gift baskets filled with books and other goodies… You bid, just like on E-Bay–except 100% of the proceeds go to research to cure diabetes.

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes.

Long-term affects of diabetes include kidney failure, nerve damage, blindness, heart disease and stroke. Help find a cure for this terrible disease and enjoy yourself while doing it! Don’t miss the fun at www.brendanovak.com.
